The High School Scoring System

    This page is here to help you understand the complicated High School scoring system.  The process of accumulating a team score isn't too complicated but people make it out to be.  On a high school team you have six varsity players. All six play and at the end of the round you add up the four best scores.  Which would be the four lowest scores. An average team score is around 165-170.  There is also a medalist for each match.  The medalist is the person with the lowest score.  Below is an example scorecard.

Basic Golf Terms

Golf has many "terms" that are used while playing.  Here are a few:

Par: Par is a number given to each hole that represents how many strokes the hole should be played in.

Birdie-one stoke below par

Bogey-one stroke above par

Eagle-two strokes below par...this is a great feat of golf

Double Bogey-two stokes above par
