Spanish I introduces
novices to language study by teaching, listening, and speaking skills, as
well as grammar and structural concepts. Knowledge and appreciation of
Spanish speaking cultures is also
developed.
Spanish II broadens and
deepens the student's knowledge of Spanish through the development of a larger
vocabulary; revision and building upon previously learned grammar concepts;
reading and composition
skills; as well as, knowledge and understanding of Latin
American and Spanish cultures.
Spanish III emphasizes
increasing the fluency of speech to the level of useful conversation. There is
focus on the current events, history, literature, and culture of Hispanic
countries. Students will write compositions and translate from English into
Spanish in this course.
Spanish IV broadens and strengthens the student's
ability to communicate in real-life situations. It also challenges students with
advanced grammar concepts. Cultural writings, writing and listening activities
provide fundamental knowledge about such topics as Spanish travel and tourism,
the media, and leisure and pastimes.
