Accelerated Grammar & Spelling

On Monday of each week, one new grammar and one new spelling objective are introduced to students.  Handouts for both objectives are glued into the Accelerated Grammar & Spelling (AGS) section of the language arts notebook.  Practice activities are completed together in class.

Students are expected to use these handouts to study during the week.  Students must complete computer assessments for both the spelling and grammar objectives by Friday of each week.  Words that students misspell are added to an individualized spelling list for each student called "My Spelling List."  Students must then spell each word on the list correctly twice in order to achieve mastery.

Students will receive both grammar and spelling grades based on the average percentage scored on all computer assessments completed during the grading period.  These scores will combine to form an Accelerated Grammar & Spelling grade which will count as 25% of the overall language arts grade.
