Each day a student maintains a “clean” record, his/her name is entered into a weekly drawing. On Friday afternoons a drawing will be held in each homeroom resulting in the winner(s) selecting a prize(s).
Every student who maintains a “clean” record for the week earns a special 25-minute incentive recess on Friday afternoon.
Each week of a “clean” record earns the student a point. When a total of nine points have been earned, the student receives a grace card. Grace cards may be used to “buy” an extra day for homework. A grace card can be used to negate an entry on the student’s discipline record in order for the student to earn the quarterly or end of year incentive. It can also be used like a ticket.
Students receive three tickets every quarter. Tickets may be used to “buy” an extra trip to a locker, a second copy of a homework paper, an extra restroom break, a phone call home for forgotten supplies, or a small treat at the end of the quarter.
At the end of each grading period, a special activity is planned for students who have discipline records that are “clean” or list only one infraction for those nine-weeks.
Students with “clean” records are awarded special certificates for the grading period to recognize their achievement.
A final celebration is planned for fifth grade students who maintain “clean” discipline records for the entire school year. An unused grace card may be turned in to “clean” an incident from a student’s record. No “buybacks” using tickets will be permitted in order to qualify. This celebration is meant to recognize students who have consistently demonstrated truly outstanding behavior and academic effort during the fifth grade year.
